Soaring mountains in southeast AZ stand as virtual forested islands surrounded by “seas” of deserts and grasslands. This “Sky Island” region hosts world-class biodiversity, containing more species than any comparable area in the U.S. The Patagonia Mountains and Sonoita Creek lie in the heart of the Madrean Sky Islands or Madrean Archipelago, supporting a dazzling array of native flora and fauna. Discover the rich ecology and inherent beauty of these key wild areas – including new threats to their valuable natural resources. Will generations to come have these natural treasures to enjoy or will they be carelessly squandered?
Naturalist, Ethnobotanist, Wildlife Biologist, Screenwriter, and Film Narrator/Host Vincent Pinto founded RAVENS-WAY WILD JOURNEYS in 1993 – dedicated to Sky Islands Biodiversity Conservation & protection via diverse Educational Programs & Nature Adventures. Vincent has been the Naturalist & Ethnobotanist columnist for the PRT since 2009. As a PARA Board member, Vincent collaborated with Filmmaker Michele Gisser to showcase the unique Biodiversity in the Heart of the Sky Islands.
